Pune: Advocating health benefits and environmental consciousness, two youths from Ranjani village in Ambegaon taluka, Dr. Sanjay Wagh and Sharad Wagh, undertook a remarkable cycling journey from Ranjani to Jagannath Puri, Odisha. The duo completed the 1,661-kilometer trek in just six days, spreading the message of a healthier lifestyle and pollution-free surroundings.

The Journey at a Glance

The cycling expedition began on December 21, 2024, at 2:45 AM.

  • Day 1: The duo covered 321 kilometers from Ranjani to Mehkar, Buldhana.

  • Day 2: Starting at 4:00 AM, they cycled 287 kilometers to Sawangi, Wardha.

  • Day 3: Beginning at 4:00 AM, they traveled 263 kilometers to Sirpur on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.

  • Day 4: Covering 300 kilometers, they reached Chhindpali, Chhattisgarh.

  • Day 5: Starting at 5:45 AM, they cycled 272 kilometers to Badkera, Odisha.

  • Day 6: On the final day, they covered 217 kilometers and reached Jagannath Puri, Odisha, by 7:15 PM, completing their journey.

Dr. Sanjay and Sharad Wagh have previously cycled to several destinations, including Kanyakumari, Tirupati Balaji, Girnar Parvat, and Bhimashankar, completing over 7,000 kilometers in total. Their next cycling mission is planned for November 2025 to Ayodhya.

Promoting Cycling Benefits

Highlighting the importance of cycling, Dr. Sanjay stated, “Cycling improves health, prevents pollution, and maintains ecological balance. It also serves as a complete body workout, converting fat into energy. During winter, cycling 250-300 kilometers daily can lead to significant health benefits.”
