Pune, 22 July 2025: A fresh rape case has been filed against BJP leader Prafulla Lodha, already embroiled in a major honey trap scandal that has rocked Maharashtra’s political circles. The latest complaint comes from a 36-year-old woman in Pune, who alleges that Lodha lured her under the pretext of helping her husband get a job and then sexually assaulted her.
According to the FIR registered at the Bavdhan police station, Lodha invited the woman to a five-star hotel in Balewadi on May 27, 2025, around 8 PM. Once there, he allegedly coerced her into a sexual encounter by leveraging the promise of employment.
The woman stated in her complaint:
"Prafulla Lodha told me he would help my husband get a job. Using that excuse, he called me to a hotel in Balewadi at 8 PM on May 27. When I reached there, he said if I wanted him to get my husband a job, I would have to sleep with him. I refused. He then threatened that he would get me fired too. After that, he forcibly had sex with me against my will."
The Bavdhan police have registered the case under Sections 64(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Investigations are currently underway.
This incident adds to Lodha’s mounting legal troubles. He is already in Mumbai Police custody for two other rape cases involving young women, also tied to the ongoing honey trap controversy. The fresh complaint has intensified political unrest and public outrage in the state.
