
Pune: The Chellaram Diabetes Institute is set to host the 9th International Diabetes Summit 2025, an event aimed at advancing diabetes care, research, and management strategies.
Scheduled to take place in Pune from 7th to 9th March 2025, the summit will bring together leading national and international experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals to discuss groundbreaking solutions to tackle the growing diabetes crisis.
The summit will witness the participation of around 2,000 delegates and will be inaugurated by Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro Chancellor of Symbiosis International University, as Chief Guest, alongside Dr. Kamlesh Khunti, Director of the UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), as Guest of Honour.
Key discussions at the summit will revolve around diabetes complications, cost-effective treatment options, technological advancements in diabetes care, and innovative management strategies. Specialized workshops will focus on strength training for diabetes, diabetes management during pregnancy, and practical insulin administration techniques.
Prominent speakers from globally renowned institutions, including Mayo Clinic (USA), Imperial College London, University of Leicester, University of Cardiff, University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of London (UK), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), Monash University (Australia), and Gleneagles Hospital (Hong Kong), will share insights alongside over 70 distinguished Indian faculty members.
The summit will also provide a platform for young researchers, with 75 scholars presenting their work as part of the Chellaram Foundation Diabetes Research Awards 2025 in Basic and Clinical Science Categories. The best research papers will receive prizes of ₹2,00,000 and ₹1,00,000 respectively.
In addition to expert discussions, the event will feature a 3 km and 5 km "Run for Diabetes" marathon on 9th March, jointly organized by the Chellaram Diabetes Institute and Blue Circle Foundation. The marathon will see participation from 500 individuals, including children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes, to promote diabetes awareness and healthy living.
