Pune Traffic Police has imposed a 24-hour ban on heavy vehicles across the city. This ban applies to multi-axle vehicles, containers, trailers, and bulkers with more than ten wheels. However, six to ten-wheeled goods vehicles will be allowed only on designated routes between midnight and 6 AM.
To implement the new traffic control measures effectively, the Pune Traffic Police, PMC, and other concerned authorities are jointly enforcing the restrictions. As part of these efforts:
Heavy vehicles are completely restricted from entering the city.
The Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway is exempted from the ban.
Certain city routes have been declared ‘Red Zones’, where entry will be allowed only with prior permission from the Traffic Department.
Heavy vehicle owners must apply for special permission if they need access to restricted routes.
According to DCP Traffic Amol Zende, essential service heavy vehicles will be permitted to enter the city only between midnight and 6 AM. However, they must strictly follow designated routes such as Nagar Road, Kharadi Bypass, Alandi Road, Holkar Bridge, and specific detours for vehicles arriving via Solapur Road.
