PUNE, 5th August 2025: A heated altercation between two groups over a minor vehicle scrape escalated into open gunfire at Kolhewadi Chowk on Sinhagad Road, around 7 PM on Monday (August 4). In the midst of evening traffic and local crowd, at least three rounds were fired from country-made pistols, causing panic in the area.

The incident led to chaos in the usually busy junction, surrounded by shops, eateries, coaching classes, and a bus stop. Eyewitnesses said it was sheer luck that no bystanders were hit. After the shots were fired, the attackers even used the pistols to physically assault members of the other group. Some individuals sustained injuries in the scuffle, though none were life-threatening.

Police have arrested two suspects identified as Rohit Chavan and Siddharth Jadhav. According to officials, the clash began when a vehicle accidentally brushed another. Verbal arguments quickly turned into a physical fight, eventually resulting in gunfire.

Local residents have expressed concern over rising criminal activities in the area. "After Khadakwasla was brought under Pune City Police jurisdiction, we expected better control over crime. But this kind of open violence in a public place is alarming," a local resident said.
