Pune: A minor argument with her husband pushed a woman in Pune to take an extreme step, but timely intervention by the police and Damini Marshals saved her life.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday (January 8) at 12:40 PM when Marshal Hinge, a member of the Damini Squad, received a distressing call from a woman she knew. The woman stated, “I am going to end my life,” and abruptly hung up.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Hinge immediately reported the matter to Senior Police Inspector Sangeeta Jadhav of the Bharosa Cell. Inspector Jadhav promptly directed Sub-Inspector Priyanka Bagul to trace the caller's location.
Bagul’s efforts revealed the woman’s location in the Market Yard area, prompting a rapid response from the nearby Damini units. As the search began, the woman’s location shifted to the Parvati area. Teams from Parvati, Parvati Darshan, and Swargate units collaborated to locate her. After a rigorous search, the woman was found near the base of Parvati Hill.
It was later revealed that the woman had decided to end her life following a minor argument with her husband. Fortunately, she called Marshal Hinge before taking any drastic step, which led to her rescue.
The woman was taken to Shivajinagar Police Station, where her husband was summoned. Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant counseled the couple and worked to resolve their issues. The woman was then handed over to her maternal uncle and aunt, along with her husband and other family members.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Shivajinagar Police Station Senior Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, Bharosa Cell Senior Inspector Sangeeta Jadhav, and Sub-Inspector Priyanka Bagul.
Key members of the rescue included Damini Marshals Hinge, Sapkal, Bhargude, Thakare, Chavan, Mandalik, and others from the Shivajinagar, Parvati Darshan, Janata Vasahat, Swargate, and Market Yard units.
