Pune, 4th September 2025: The grand Ganesh immersion procession in Pune will begin on Saturday (Sept 6) at 9:30 am from the Lokmanya Tilak statue in Mandai. As per tradition, the revered Kasba Ganpati will lead the procession, followed by other honoured mandals including Tambdi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulshibaug, and Kesariwada.
The Pune Police, after discussions with Ganesh mandal representatives, have introduced strict guidelines this year. Each mandal can have a maximum of two dhol-tasha troupes with up to 60 members each, and no troupe will be allowed to perform while standing still. Mandals can choose either a DJ or a dhol-tasha troupe, but not both.
After Kasba Ganpati reaches Belbag Chowk, the main procession will begin. The sixth in rank, PMC’s Ganpati, and the seventh, Tvashta Kasar Ganpati, must pass Belbag by 1 pm. Mandals approaching via Lakshmi Road and Shivaji Maharaj Road will be allowed entry into the procession in sequence until 3:45 pm.
The famed Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati will join at Belbag Chowk around 4 pm, after which mandals from Lakshmi Road and Shivaji Maharaj Road will continue till 5:30 pm.
Other prominent idols including Jilbya Maruti, Hutatma Babu Genu, Bhausaheb Rangari, and Akhil Mandai Ganpati will follow, expected to leave Belbag Chowk by 7 pm. Afterward, illuminated floats and other mandals will join the procession into the night.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that no mandal will be allowed to break the sequence or enter out of turn. Processions from Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road, and Tilak Road will not begin before 10:30 am. Once the procession reaches Alka Talkies Chowk, no other mandal will enter that stretch until Kasba Ganpati passes through.
