
Pune: A German theatre competition showcasing the creativity and linguistic talent of school and college students was held on December 7 at the MES Auditorium. The event was jointly organized by Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune, and MES Senior College, Pune.
Approximately 150 participants from nine schools and three colleges across Pune, Kolhapur, and Ashta competed on the themes of sustainability and diversity.
In the school category, Dhruv English Medium School, Sus, secured the first position, while City Pride School, Nigdi, and SPM Public English Medium School placed second and third, respectively.
Claremont International School, Ashta, received a consolation prize. In the college category, the German Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University emerged as the winner.
The event was graced by Alicia Padros, Deputy Director and Head of the Language Department at Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune, Dr. Poonam Rawat, Vice Principal of MES Senior College, and Dr. Surekha Vaidya, Head of the BBA-IB Department at MES Senior College, who presented prizes to the winners.
The jury included Shivprasad Joshi and Sanyogita Pendse from Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune.
Speaking at the event, Padros encouraged students, saying, "Art is the most enriching aspect of life—always pursue it."
The performances were lauded for their creativity, innovative approaches to the themes, and the confident use of the German language, leaving a lasting impression on the audience and jury.
The competition was a collaborative effort guided by Dr. Ravindra Vaidya, Principal of MES Senior College, and Vaishali Dabke, Project Manager for Educational Services at Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Dabke.
