Pune, recognized for its strong academic and industrial ecosystem, served as the ideal venue for discussions on emerging trends, industry challenges, and policy frameworks essential for advancing India’s semiconductor sector.

The previous sessions in Mumbai (January 15) and Nagpur (February 28) were well-received, with Maharashtra government and industry leaders expressing a keen interest in incorporating these insights into the state’s upcoming electronics policy.

The Pune roundtable further emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, private sector, and academia, highlighting the urgency of policy support and infrastructure development to position India as a leader in the global semiconductor market.

Speaking at the event, U.S. Consulate Spokesperson Greg Pardo emphasized Pune’s role in driving high-tech partnerships. “The semiconductor industry is the backbone of modern innovation, and Pune has consistently led the way in fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and policymakers. From hosting key G20 discussions on the digital economy to establishing a Cyber Security Center of Excellence, the city is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this critical sector.”

The final session of the roundtable series will take place in Mumbai this June, where discussions will focus on accelerating semiconductor innovation and strengthening U.S.-India technological cooperation.
