Pune witnessed a noticeable rise in minimum temperatures on Saturday-Sunday (December 21-22), as the city warmed up significantly. Temperatures stabilized at 15.2°C in Shivajinagar and Pashan 15.1°C, while the NDA area recorded 13.3°C. The winter chill, which had been prominent over the past week, has now significantly decreased.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune's minimum temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming week. Clear skies and occasional light fog are likely to persist, but the sharp cold that Pune residents had been experiencing will gradually ease.
Earlier in the week, temperatures had dipped as low as 6.1°C, creating a strong winter chill. However, since Friday, December 20, the mercury climbed to 12°C, offering some respite. The shift is attributed to the flow of cold and dry winds from the northern regions toward Maharashtra, which continues to bring cooler conditions to some districts.
On Saturday (December 20), Shivajinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4°C, while the NDA area reported 15.2°C, a significant increase compared to Friday's figures of 12.5°C and 11.5°C, respectively. In contrast, Solapur registered the highest maximum temperature in the state at 33.3°C, while Jalgaon recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 12°C.
Pune’s maximum temperature was 30°C on Saturday, marking a mild yet noticeable warming trend. Over the next week, maximum temperatures are forecasted to rise by 2 to 3 degrees, and minimum temperatures by 4 to 6 degrees.
