In a daring daylight robbery on April 15, 2025, three masked men looted Shri Saraf Jewelers near Kalubai Chowk, Raikar Mala, Dhayari, Pune, stealing 25 to 30 tolas (approximately 260 grams) of gold valued at over Rs 20 lakh. The assailants threatened the shop owner, Vishnu Sakharam Dahiwal, with what appeared to be a pistol, which was later confirmed to be a toy gun.
The incident unfolded around 2:50 PM when one man entered the store posing as a customer interested in gold chains. As the owner displayed the jewelry, two accomplices entered and brandished the fake pistol, hurling abuses and threatening the owner and staff. When Dahiwal resisted, the robbers assaulted him, striking his head with the butt of the toy gun, which broke during the scuffle.
The trio then fled the scene on a motorcycle, leaving behind the broken part of the toy gun. The entire robbery was captured on CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for the police investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Sambhaji Kadam confirmed that the suspects’ descriptions have been obtained, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend them.
No customers were present during the robbery, and the robbers spoke in Hindi. The owner was hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the assault. Police continue to analyze CCTV footage and gather clues from the crime scene to track down the culprits.
