Pune: The efforts to reallocate the MPG-1 reserved land owned by the Pune District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union for a dairy processing project have been successful.

The Pune District Milk Union has finalized a detailed plan for a ₹100 crore dairy expansion project, funded under the Dairy Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) with financial assistance from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The Kondhapuri-based cattle feed plant witnessed a significant rise in monthly sales, surging from 150 metric tons to 500 metric tons. Moreover, dairy farmers who purchased cattle feed from the union received a subsidy totaling ₹1.7 crore at a rate of ₹1.50 per liter.

To address the issue of fluctuating milk prices, the union compensated milk producers for price differences on a per-liter basis. In a bid to enhance the sale of milk and dairy products, an external marketing consultant was appointed, leading to a substantial boost in sales.

Additionally, the milk and dairy product parlors managed by the union have been modernized, further contributing to the increased demand. Efforts to secure a ₹5 per liter subsidy from the government have resulted in ₹2 crore in grants being awarded to the union’s milk producers.

In another significant move, the union has promoted 333 employees across various roles to improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, a ₹2 crore boundary wall project, approved through the Pune Municipal Corporation, has commenced, marking another infrastructural improvement.
