Pune, 8th August 2025: A major fire broke out at Golden Bakery in Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Kothrud, Pune, in the early hours of Thursday (August 7). Though the fire caused extensive damage to the bakery, no casualties or injuries were reported. The incident occurred around 3:15 AM and continued until about 6 AM.
The bakery, located on the ground floor of the three-storey Shri Vitthal Krupa building in Mayur Colony, operates using electricity and gas. At the time of the incident, seven bakery workers sleeping inside the premises managed to escape unhurt. Several students living in the upper floors of the building were also evacuated safely.
Fire brigade units from Kothrud, Erandwane, Warje, and NDA responded promptly. Thanks to their swift action, six LPG cylinders were removed from the site in time, preventing a much bigger disaster. Nearby residents were temporarily shifted to safer locations.
Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have started due to a short circuit. Authorities are currently conducting a detailed inspection and damage assessment.
