Pune Metro Site Theft: Six Arrested for Stealing Iron Poles Worth ₹2 Lakh

Pune Police arrested six individuals involved in stealing iron poles worth ₹2 lakh from the Metro construction site near the Kamgar Putla area of Shivajinagar. The accused were caught red-handed while attempting to transport the stolen materials for scrap sale.

Theft and Immediate Action

The incident took place near the Shivajinagar Court, where materials for the Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi Metro corridor are stored. The accused—Ganesh Machhindra Kamble, Aniket Mahendra Kamble, Tausifraj Faizahmed Sheikh, Shamshuddin Yusufali Sheikh Mansuri, Wasim Ayub Pathan, and Mustafa Mustakim Sheikh—allegedly stole iron poles from the site and loaded them into a vehicle to sell as scrap.

Chandrakant Shelar, a Metro project security guard, noticed the suspicious activity and immediately informed the Metro authorities and police. Acting on the tip, police detained the accused before they could flee the scene.

The suspects were taken into custody by Shivajinagar Police. Sub-Inspector Kaviraj Patil is leading the investigation to determine if the group is involved in similar thefts in the area.

Pune: Gold jewelry worth ₹4.41 lakh was stolen from an apartment in Kothrud’s Mayur Colony after burglars broke in by breaking the lock. The incident occurred while the family was away, and the theft was discovered upon their return.

The complainant, a resident of Mayur Colony, had left the apartment with their family on January 8 for an out-of-town visit. During this time, burglars broke the lock of the apartment, gained access to the bedroom, and forced open a wardrobe containing gold jewelry worth ₹4.41 lakh.

Upon their return two days later, the family noticed the broken lock and inspected the apartment. It was then that they realized the jewelry was missing and reported the incident to the Kothrud Police.
