Pune, 18 August 2025: A major accident was narrowly avoided in Pune when a private passenger bus caught fire on the Pune-Bengaluru highway near Narhe in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 2 am, while most travellers were asleep.
According to initial information, the bus was heading towards Bengaluru when smoke began rising from it. The driver quickly pulled the vehicle aside and asked everyone to get down. Within minutes, the bus was engulfed in flames and reduced to ashes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Fire brigade teams from the Pune Municipal Corporation and PMRDA rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after considerable effort. The fire also caused temporary traffic congestion on the busy highway, which was later cleared by police.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, and further investigation is underway. Passengers, relieved to have escaped unhurt, expressed gratitude for the driver’s timely action.
