Pune, 6th September 2025: Ganeshotsav visarjan procession unfold today with vibrant processions across Maharashtra, especially in Pune and Mumbai. Devotees prepare to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with music, dance, and traditional rituals at both household and public pandals.
In Pune, the grand immersion procession will begins at 9:30 am with Kasba Ganpati, the first among the revered "Manache Ganpati." Crowds are expected to line the streets as Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati, the city’s most famous idol, begins its journey later in the day. Authorities have readied immersion tanks along the Mutha river to handle the large number of idols.
Deputy Chief Minister and Pune’s Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, along with his wife Sunetra Pawar, is going to visit the Dagdusheth temple to offer prayers and perform the aarti before the idol sets off in its procession.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the National Academy of Art has created a massive rangoli at Belbagh Chowk, carrying social messages as part of the celebrations. Such cultural displays are a hallmark of Pune’s immersion day traditions.
In Mumbai, the iconic Lalbagcha Raja leads the processions, attracting huge crowds as devotees gather for one final glimpse before immersion. Across both cities, police and civic bodies maintain strict security with drones, CCTV monitoring, and barricades to ensure smooth and safe processions.
