Municipal Corporation (PMC) is fully implementing the e-Office system to prevent the loss and delay of important administrative files and proposals.
Over 1,300 user IDs have been created, and training sessions have been held to ensure seamless transition across all departments.
The system will help track the real-time status of files, speed up governance, and ensure accountability and transparency.
Pune, 21 July 2025: To address frequent incidents of missing or delayed administrative files, the Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to fully adopt the e-Office system across all its departments. Previously, important proposals and documents often went missing or were delayed while moving between offices, hampering timely decision-making and citizen services. Now, PMC is taking a decisive step to modernize its administrative processes.
While the central and state governments have long used the e-Office system to speed up internal workflows, PMC had implemented it only in a few departments. However, due to recurring issues with misplaced proposals and poor file tracking, the municipal administration has made it mandatory for all departments to use the digital system.
Development-related proposals within PMC are typically prepared in a typed format and routed through several departments for approvals. Often, officials were unaware of the file’s current location, causing unnecessary delays. With the e-Office system now compulsory across all departments, such confusion is expected to be eliminated.
IT Department Head Rahul Jagtap stated that over 1,300 user IDs have been created for officers and staff after conducting more than 110 training sessions. The rollout will soon extend to all 15 regional offices as well. Each department is now required to integrate its proposals into the e-Office system, ensuring that digital files are maintained for every project.
According to Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj B. P., the digital tracking system will allow senior officials to view the exact status of any proposal, including where it is pending and for how long. This will save time, improve workflow speed, and increase accountability.
The e-Office system will also assist in the digitization of important records, provide instant access to old data through advanced search tools, and ensure that retrieved information is easily available when needed. Currently, digitization of 1,200 files has already been completed, marking a significant step forward in PMC's push toward efficient e-governance.
