Pune: PMC to Build 4060 Affordable Homes in Baner, Kondhwa, Dhanori, and Hadapsar

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the second phase of its affordable housing project under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for economically weaker sections (EWS). After successfully constructing and allotting 2,918 houses in the first phase, the civic body plans to build 4,060 additional homes in Baner, Kondhwa, Dhanori, and Hadapsar at prices below market rates. The total project cost is estimated at ₹300 crore.

PMC had earlier completed projects in Wadgaon Budruk, Kharadi, and Hadapsar, offering 2,918 flats that were distributed through a lottery system. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022.

New Phase Details

The second phase of the scheme is now accepting applications. Eligible citizens must meet the following criteria:

  • Annual household income should not exceed ₹6 lakh.

  • Applicants should not own a house anywhere in India.

Previously, the income cap was ₹3 lakh, but the revised limit allows more citizens to benefit.

Affordable Housing Features

  • Two house configurations are available: 330 sq. ft. and 450 sq. ft.

  • Prices range between ₹12 lakh and ₹15 lakh.

  • Houses are being constructed on PMC-owned land, reducing costs.

  • Beneficiaries will receive subsidies of ₹1.5 lakh from the central government and ₹1 lakh from the state government.

  • Remaining costs can be financed through loans.

  • Facilities include sewage treatment plants, parks, solar energy systems, fire safety equipment, elevators, and water recharge systems.

  • Baner (Survey No. 12): 648 houses

  • Dhanori (Survey No. 7/1+7/2): 676 houses

  • Hadapsar (Survey No. 75): 2,000 houses
