Police officials said the order is intended to prevent disturbances during the Visarjan processions. They explained that unrestricted sharing of videos or photographs could hurt sentiments and disrupt peace in the city.

The ban covers media showing immersions in rivers, lakes, or artificial tanks. Authorities also warned that those violating the order could face action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Ganesh Chaturthi began on August 27 and concludes on September 6, Anant Chaturdashi, when most idols are immersed. However, many families perform the Visarjan on earlier days such as the third, fifth, or seventh day of the festival.
