
Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Pune has continued its crackdown on bribery in government offices, booking 16 officials in the first three months of 2025 alone. In 2024, 58 officials were arrested, with the Revenue Department accounting for the highest number of cases.
Despite stringent action, bribery remains rampant across multiple departments, including Police, Electricity, Education, and Municipal Administration.
Department-Wise Breakdown of Corruption Cases
Between 2024 and 2025, ACB took action against multiple government departments:
Revenue Department – 22 cases
Police Department – 16 cases
Mahavitaran (MSEDCL) – 5 cases
Education Department – 3 cases
Municipal Corporation – 2 cases
Zilla Parishad – 1 case
Health Department – 1 case
Agriculture, GST, RTO, and MHADA – 1 case each
In 2024, ACB arrested 79 individuals, including government officials and private agents.
47 were caught red-handed while accepting bribes
27 were private agents involved in facilitating corruption

Corruption Cases in 2025: A Three-Month Report
In just the first quarter of 2025, 16 government officials have been booked across 12 different offices in Pune. These include:

Police and GST Departments – 1 case each
Municipal Corporation & Zilla Parishad – 1 case each
Health and Town Planning Departments – 1 case each
Despite frequent crackdowns, corruption continues to thrive. Experts suggest that strict laws, faster legal proceedings, and active citizen participation are necessary to eliminate bribery from government offices.
