Pune: Protests have escalated in Pune after actor Rahul Solapurkar's controversial statements about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar surfaced in separate video clips. Political and social organizations across Maharashtra have strongly condemned the remarks, leading to demonstrations outside Solapurkar’s residence in Kothrud.

The first video, which surfaced ten days ago, allegedly contained derogatory comments about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The remarks sparked a wave of anger, prompting the Thackeray faction to stage a protest outside Solapurkar’s home.

This intensified the backlash, prompting various social and political organizations to take a stand. Amid growing tensions, the Pune Police have tightened security outside Rahul Solapurkar’s residence to prevent any untoward incidents.

RPI (A) and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Lead Protests

Today, members of the Republican Party of India (RPI) Athawale faction and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi organized protests against Solapurkar.

During the demonstration, RPI (A) leader Parshuram Wadekar stated: "Despite his offensive remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the state government is providing police protection to Rahul Solapurkar. This is unacceptable. We demand that an atrocity case be registered against him and that he be arrested immediately."

Wadekar also warned that if the state government fails to take strict action against Solapurkar, more intense protests will be organized in the near future.
