Shivaji Maharaj Road in Pune to remain closed for night traffic until August 25 due to Bhidewada Memorial construction.
Traffic restrictions will be in place from 10 PM to 6 AM, with alternate routes announced by the traffic department.
Vehicles heading from Shivajinagar to Swargate will be diverted via Jangli Maharaj Road and Tilak Road.
Pune, 5th August 2025: Pune’s busy Shivaji Maharaj Road, which sees heavy daily traffic, will remain closed during the night hours until August 25. The closure is necessary to allow unhindered progress on the Bhidewada Memorial project, an important historical development in the city. The traffic department has announced that vehicular movement on Shivaji Road near Budhwar Chowk will be halted from 10 PM to 6 AM every day.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, alternate routes have been suggested. Vehicles travelling from Shivajinagar towards Swargate will need to use Jangli Maharaj Road, pass through Khandojibaba Chowk, and proceed via Tilak Road to reach their destination.
The traffic police have clarified that although the permissions for diversions were granted from August 2, the changes will only come into effect once the actual construction work begins.
Additional diversions are as follows:
Vehicles heading towards the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) office should take a left from Jhansi Rani Chowk.
Those coming from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk will need to turn right from the Bijli Shop and continue via Shrikrishna Talkies and City Post towards Laxmi Road.
These night-time restrictions will remain in force until August 25 or until the memorial work is completed.
