Following the incident, the accused reportedly defamed a journalist and two social activists by labelling them as “jihadis” on social platforms, which further worsened the situation by hurting religious sentiments and creating tension between two communities.

In the days after the episode, members of the ex-servicemen community visited the home of Kargil war veteran Hakimuddin Shaikh in a show of support. His family had earlier reported being targeted and harassed by individuals allegedly associated with a right-wing group.
