Pune, 16 September 2025: Following increasing traffic chaos and rash driving on city roads, the Pune Traffic (PTP) App is helping citizens play an active role in enforcing road rules. With just a photo and a few taps, residents can report traffic violations, and the Pune traffic police will take action.
Since its launch, the app has received more than 42,000 complaints, most of which have resulted in penalties or warnings to offenders. Common violations include triple-seat riding, signal jumping, driving without seat belts, parking in no-parking zones, tinted car windows, refusing fares by auto or taxi drivers, and reckless driving against the flow of traffic.
The process is simple: if you spot a violation, click a photo and upload it to the Pune Traffic app. The traffic police will verify and act on the complaint. With limited police presence across the city’s vast road network, citizen participation is proving vital in maintaining road discipline.
The app is not just for penalties. Users can also report accidents, oil spills, potholes, fallen trees, waterlogging, or major traffic congestion, helping police respond quickly to emergencies and hazards. The platform also provides real-time traffic alerts, parking information, and e-challan details.
Pune Traffic Police have urged citizens to use the app to promote safer roads. They say the initiative will not only help reduce accidents but also improve traffic flow by encouraging people to follow rules.
