Pune, 28 July 2025: To address the rising number of accidents on the Katraj-Navale Bridge road, Pune Traffic Police has stationed a dedicated speed gun vehicle on the route leading from the new Katraj tunnel to Navale Bridge. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that motorists adhere to the speed limit of 60 kmph.

The speed gun-equipped vehicle captures speeding vehicles, and fines are issued to offenders based on vehicle type. In the past three months, April, May, and June, the department has collected a total of ₹2.35 crore in fines. These include ₹1,000 fines for three-wheelers, ₹2,000 for four-wheelers, and ₹4,000 for heavy vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, clarified that the aim of this enforcement is not to generate revenue but to ensure road safety. The steep slope on this road leads to overspeeding, which is a key reason for accidents. He urged all motorists to strictly follow the 60 kmph speed limit while passing through this stretch.
