Pune, 28 August 2025: Ganesh Chaturthi began in Pune with a wave of devotion and celebration. Streets echoed with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” while dhol-tasha troupes and decorated routes added to the festive mood. From dawn, devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the arrival of Lord Ganesha across mandals and households.
The five Manacha Ganpati mandals, Kasba Ganpati, Tambdi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulshibaug, and Kesariwada, led the celebrations with traditional processions. Palanquins and flower-decked chariots carried the idols through heritage routes. Music bands, nagara players, and dhol-tasha groups energized the processions as thousands of devotees walked along.
Among Pune’s most famous mandals, the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati drew massive crowds. The idol was brought in a grand chariot decorated with flowers and tableaux. Accompanied by bands, shehnai, and dhol-tasha groups, the procession showcased the blend of tradition and grandeur that defines Pune’s Ganeshotsav.
Mandals like Akhil Mandai Ganpati and Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati also held vibrant processions through traditional routes. Flower-adorned raths, cultural troupes, and rhythmic drum performances marked their celebrations, further enriching the citywide festive atmosphere.
With idol installations completed across mandals and homes, Pune’s most beloved festival has officially begun. The coming days will bring devotional programs, cultural performances, and community gatherings, reaffirming the city’s reputation as the cultural heartland of Ganeshotsav.
