
Pune: Pune has been gripped by a cold wave, with the temperature plummeting to 7.5°C in the National Defence Academy (NDA) area and Shivajinagar recorded a minimum of 8.9°C.
The India Meteorological Department predicts that the chilly conditions will persist for the next 24 hours, with a slight increase expected after two days.
Chilly Conditions Across Pune
For the past four days, areas such as NDA, Haveli, Malin, and Shivajinagar have experienced temperatures between 6°C and 7°C. Other parts of the city, including Pashan, Kothrud, and Aundh, have also reported biting cold, with the mercury dropping below 9°C in several areas.

Maharashtra Experiences Widespread Cold Wave
Across Maharashtra, minimum temperatures have dropped significantly, with many regions in Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha recording temperatures as low as 5°C. The hill station of Mahabaleshwar recorded a minimum of 13.5°C, while Ahilyanagar in Pune district saw temperatures dip to 5.6°C.
The India Meteorological Department forecasts clear skies in Pune starting December 20, with some cloudy conditions expected during afternoons. Citizens are advised to prepare for continued cold weather over the coming days.
IMD has forecast the minimum temperature around 9°C in Pune city and maximum temperature of 29°C on Wednesday (December 18).
