Pune: The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, in collaboration with IEEE Pune Section, successfully organized the 7th IEEE International Conference - PUNECON-2024.
Spanning three days, the conference centered on the theme “Sustainable Secure Digital Transformation,” bringing together leading experts, academicians, and industry professionals.
The event, held from December 13 to 15, featured eight dedicated tracks, including sustainable computing, quantum technologies, AI and machine learning, robotics, 5G and IoT, sustainable energy, photonics, and smart manufacturing. These tracks provided a platform to discuss challenges and solutions in promoting sustainable and secure digital practices.
Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, inaugurated the conference as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Kamat underscored the importance of adopting digital transformation responsibly, ensuring both environmental sustainability and security.
The Guests of Honour included S. Sundari Nanda, IPS, Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Dr. Jitendra J. Jadhav, Director General of the Aeronautical Development Agency.
Nanda highlighted the need for structured evaluations and timelines for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, while Dr. Jadhav emphasized the transformative role of digital technologies in advancing next-generation AI-powered fighter jets.
A notable development during the event was the signing of an MoU between DIAT and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Delhi, aimed at fostering collaboration in the field of education.
Participation and Industry Engagement
Around 150 participants from across India attended the conference, which featured presentations, discussions, and exhibitions. Prominent companies, including Quantico Technologies, Kalyani Strategic Systems, and Netweb Technology, showcased their innovative products and solutions.
The conference provided an excellent platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and exploring cutting-edge solutions to pressing global challenges. Dr. Kamat concluded by expressing his anticipation for actionable recommendations from the conference and extended his best wishes to the organizers and participants.
