Originally, authorities planned to acquire around 7,000 acres for the project. However, strong opposition from local farmers led the district administration to scale down the plan by nearly 60 percent. Now, just 3,000 acres will be acquired, covering both the airport and a smaller logistics hub.

While the logistics hub, meant for cargo storage, trade, and transport facilities, has been sharply reduced, the airport’s core area has been kept intact. Officials confirmed that 2,200 acres are allocated specifically for the runways and terminal.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi said that although the overall land size was reduced, the runway and terminal areas remain unchanged. About 300 acres have also been reserved to provide developed plots for farmers affected by land acquisition.
