Pune: Entrepreneurs in Ramtekdi Industrial Estate, Hadapsar, are grappling with deteriorated road conditions and continuous water leakage from a tanker point. Despite repeated complaints over the past decade, municipal authorities have failed to take corrective measures, leading to severe inconvenience for businesses operating in the area.
Persistent Water Flow Turns Road into Drainage Channel
Upon entering the Ramtekdi Industrial Estate, one can see constant water flow from the tanker point, turning the road into a virtual drainage system. The entire stretch is filled with stones, mud, and large potholes, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through.
Several companies, including foreign firms, are severely affected. Business owners have reported that employees, clients, and delivery vehicles struggle to navigate the road, creating operational and safety hazards.
Entrepreneurs Express Frustration Over Neglect
Entrepreneurs have raised their voices against municipal negligence and the lack of funding for infrastructure improvements. Despite paying all necessary taxes, they feel ignored by the administration.
"Millions of liters of water are wasted every day from the tanker point, flowing like a drain in front of our company. This has caused the road to deteriorate, with deep potholes making transportation a nightmare. Companies are struggling because vehicles are now reluctant to enter due to these terrible conditions."
— Vasant Yemul, Entrepreneur
Authorities Blame Delays on Lack of Permissions
The 24-meter-wide road leading to the tanker point was included in the development plan ten years ago. However, municipal authorities claim that work has been delayed due to a lack of clearance from the forest department.
"We are currently working on a stormwater drainage pipeline to resolve the waterlogging issue. 300 meters have been completed, and another 150-200 meters remain. Once funding is allocated, we hope to mitigate the problem soon."
— Rishikesh Suryavanshi, Junior Engineer, Municipal Corporation
The forest department, however, states that the municipal corporation has not officially requested approval for road construction.
"If a formal request is submitted following the required procedure, approval should not be an issue."
— Forest Department Official
Entrepreneurs Demand Urgent Action
Business owners are now demanding that the municipal corporation take immediate action to resolve both the water leakage and road conditions.
"For over a decade, we have raised concerns, submitted written complaints, and appealed to authorities. Yet, nothing has changed. The municipal corporation and the forest department keep shifting blame. The administration must act urgently to resolve these long-standing issues."
— Pramod Dabir, President, Ramtekdi Industries Association
