Pune: A young woman from Katraj has lodged a complaint against a man who assaulted her father and issued violent threats after she refused his marriage proposal.
The suspect, identified as Aniket Shyam Misal, 28, has been harassing the woman since February, exploiting their friendship to pressure her into marriage.
The young woman from Katraj has filed a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. Following her complaint, the police have registered a case against Aniket Misal, residing in Navrang Society, Gulabnagar, Dhankawadi. This harassment had been ongoing since February.
According to the police, the complainant and Aniket Misal were friends. Misal exploited this friendship by proposing marriage. When she refused, Misal went to her house and physically assaulted her father with kicks and punches.
He further threatened her with violence, saying, "If you don't marry me, I'll break your father's leg, attack you with a blade, and throw acid on you." He also threatened to release private and obscene photos and videos of them together on social media.
After the complainant blocked his number, Misal continued to harass her through Snapchat and Instagram, sending abusive messages. He also contacted her relatives, spreading false information to defame her. Police Sub-Inspector Bhosale is investigating the case.
Recently, a young woman Prachi Vijay Mane, 21, a resident of Ambethan, Khed, was murdered by being stabbed in the neck and abdomen after refusing a marriage proposal driven by one-sided love. The incident took place at Ambethan in Mhalunge MIDC.
The accused, Aviraj Ramachandra Kharat, a resident of Bahe, Taluka Walwa, was arrested by Pimpri-Chinchwad police after a chase on the Satara-Karad Road.
