Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A troubling video has emerged from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, showing a sick woman being transported to a hospital on a cot because no ambulance was available.
The situation intensified after the woman died midway before reaching the hospital.
The video is being widely shared on social media, where users are criticising the system and saying, “The Health Minister of Madhya Pradesh is from Rewa, yet in Mangawan, Rewa, a tribal woman could not reach the hospital in time because there was neither a proper road nor an ambulance.”
The video shows a group of four to five individuals carrying a woman on a cot balanced on their shoulders. They are seen making their way along a muddy track in the absence of a proper road. The gravity of the situation is evident from the audio, and the hospital still seems to be a considerable distance away.
Local reports state that villagers carried the woman on a cot (khatiya) over a long distance in an effort to get her medical assistance, but she reportedly died en route before they could reach the hospital.The incident has triggered strong political criticism in the state.

Opposition leaders claim that, despite these measures, essential healthcare services in some areas of the district are still insufficient.They have claimed that poor infrastructure, especially the lack of roads and emergency ambulance services, continues to affect tribal and rural communities.
Critics have also argued that the case highlights broader shortcomings in Madhya Pradesh’s public health system and have accused the government of failing to provide timely medical care in remote regions.There has been no official detailed response from the state government on the specific allegations at the time of reporting.
