Pune: Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case has sparked a political storm, with allegations of undue pressure on investigative agencies and demands for the resignation of Minister Dhananjay Munde. Lawmakers from both the ruling coalition and the opposition have raised this demand, intensifying the political heat. After remaining silent on the issue for the past two weeks, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed the matter during a media interaction in Pune on Thursday, January 9.

Responding to the controversy, Pawar remarked, "In any investigation, allegations can surface against anyone. In this case, the SIT, CID, and judicial inquiries are already underway. The Chief Minister has made it clear that anyone found guilty will face immediate action, and I have personally conveyed this to Devendra Fadnavis."

Pawar emphasized that political affiliations would not shield anyone from scrutiny. "If senior officials or anyone else are found guilty, they will face strict action. A detailed investigation will uncover all communication details, including call durations and interactions. Such incidents will not be tolerated in Maharashtra, and the government is approaching this with utmost seriousness," he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of fairness during the investigation, stating, "The constitutional right to express opinions must not result in injustice to anyone."

Pawar addressed allegations made by BJP leader Suresh Dhas, urging him to provide concrete evidence rather than mere accusations. "I have told Dhas to give evidence to the investigating agencies. I have also discussed this with Chandrashekhar Bawankule to ensure transparency and accountability," Pawar added.

The Deputy CM assured that a thorough probe was underway. "We are equally concerned about this issue. Our responsibility is greater since we are in the government. No one involved will be shielded," he said, reiterating the government’s commitment to impartiality and justice in the case.
