SCERT Announces Career Fairs for Classes 9–12 Students in December

Government corporations, banks, financial institutions, offices running self-employment schemes will provide guidance and support for students inclined toward self-employment.

Pune: Career fairs aimed at helping students of classes 9 to 12 explore their interests, abilities, and personality traits will be held across all districts in Maharashtra.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has announced that these two-day fairs, facilitated by the District Education and Training Institutes, will take place during the second week of December.

A Platform for Career Counseling and Employment

The fairs will feature expert counseling sessions to guide students and parents on various career options.

On the second day, participating employers will conduct interviews for eligible students and provide direct placement letters to successful candidates. Employers from various industries will offer opportunities to students who have completed 18 years of age.

For students inclined toward self-employment, government corporations, banks, financial institutions, and offices running self-employment schemes will provide detailed guidance and support.

Integration of Apprenticeship Programs

In an effort to enhance vocational opportunities, the fairs will also include apprenticeship initiatives.

These programs are supported by organizations such as the Skill Development, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Commissionerate, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, the Maharashtra State Innovation Society, and the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society.

SCERT's Deputy Director, Anuradha Oak, emphasized the need for coordination among district vocational education officers to ensure the success of the event.

Event Details and Arrangements

  • Day 1: Expert-led career counseling for students and parents.

  • Day 2: On-the-spot interviews for students and issuance of appointment letters.

  • One Fair per District: Each district will host one career fair.

  • Attendance Capacity: Arrangements to accommodate 500 students daily.

  • Preferred Venues: Schools already offering vocational education.

These fairs aim to empower students by providing them with practical career advice and employment or entrepreneurial opportunities, marking a significant step in bridging the gap between education and the workforce.
