Under the Maharashtra Private Hospitals Registration Act, hospitals are required to prominently display several important documents and information in their public areas. These include the Patient Rights Charter, hospital rate lists, a toll-free complaint number provided by the Municipal Corporation, patient information form (Form D), and valid fire safety certificates. The failure to adhere to these rules led to the notices.

The department regularly inspects private hospitals twice a year, checking for compliance with various standards such as rate display, patient rights information, and emergency contact numbers. Notices are also issued based on complaints received from patients.

According to Dr. Suryakant Devkar, Assistant Health Officer, Pune Municipal Corporation, some of the major violations observed include the absence of the rate list and Patient Rights Charter in public view, lack of toll-free complaint numbers, and missing fire safety certificates. These hospitals have been given 30 days to explain the lapses and to fix the issues.
