Severed Body Parts Found in Well: Murder of College Student Shocks Ahilyanagar

Pune: The town of Danevadi in Shrigonda Taluka, Ahilyanagar District, was shaken by a gruesome crime after a dismembered body was discovered in two separate wells. Police have confirmed that the remains belong to 19-year-old Mauli Satish Gavhane, a college student who had been missing since March 6.

On Wednesday (March 12), a sack containing a severed head, both hands, and one leg was found inside the well of Vitthal Dattu Mandge in Danevadi. The discovery sent shockwaves through the area, prompting the police to launch an urgent search operation for the remaining body parts.

Following intensive efforts, another sack containing the missing head, hands, and legs was recovered on Saturday (March 15) from a well near the banks of the Ghodnadi River. The body parts were found tied inside the sack along with six large stones, indicating a deliberate attempt to dispose of the remains.

The victim’s family members identified the remains, leading to a heart-wrenching scene at the location. His father Satish Gawhane, mother Mangal, brother Avinash, and sister Uma were inconsolable upon the confirmation of his identity.

Local activist Daulat Shitole, President of Jai Malhar Kranti Sanghatana, provided assistance in the search efforts. He arranged for a diver and rescue volunteers from his Disaster Management Center to help locate the missing body parts.

The motive behind the brutal murder remains unclear, and authorities have intensified their investigation. Meanwhile, outraged villagers have announced a roadblock protest near the Seventeen Arches Bridge in Shirur on Monday (March 17), demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the crime.
