Pune: In a bid to promote cleanliness and preserve historical sites, the NSS Unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Hotel Management Pune organized a cleanliness drive at Sinhagad Fort. The event saw the participation of 30 enthusiastic students, who actively engaged in the cleanup efforts under the guidance of Program Officer Swapnil Pawar.
The focus of the drive was the Samadhi area and its surroundings, where a significant amount of waste had accumulated. During the initiative, the students collected approximately 90 kilograms of garbage, consisting of:
Garlands and floral waste
Plastic bottles
Paper scraps
Wrappers and miscellaneous debris
The campaign was spearheaded by Institute Head Dr. Lalita Chirmule and NSS Program Coordinator Dr. Avinash Mehetre, who commended the students for their hard work. They emphasized that such initiatives create awareness about the importance of cleanliness and responsible tourism.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chirmule stated, “Historical sites like Sinhagad Fort hold great cultural value, and it is our duty to maintain their cleanliness. This drive is a step towards inspiring more people to take responsibility for their surroundings.”
The NSS Unit aims to continue similar initiatives in the future to contribute to environmental conservation and heritage preservation.
