Pune: Students from the Army Institute of Technology (AIT) achieved a historic feat by winning first prizes in two categories at the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024. The Grand Finale of this national innovation competition took place across 51 nodal centers.
The SIH, an initiative by the Government of India, challenges young minds to develop real-world solutions to problems posed by ministries, industries, and organizations. This year, two teams from AIT stood out among hundreds of participants for their groundbreaking projects.
Team Black Syndicate, comprising Chetan Singh (team lead), Yash Pathak, Dharjinder Singh, Roshnee Gouda, Aditya Pratap, and Rajat Singh, developed a Cyber Triage Tool aimed at streamlining digital forensic investigations. Their solution, addressing a problem posed by the National Investigative Agency (NIA), earned them first place and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 at the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida.
The tool simplifies evidence importation and analysis, offering a user-friendly platform for investigators.
Team Carbon Daters, led by Kaushal Vyas with team members Nikhil Dhariwal, Riya Kumari, Shubham Kumar, Ayush H, and KBV Kishore, created a Portal for Innovation Excellence Indicators. This portal evaluates and highlights innovation in educational institutions. Their solution, addressing a challenge posed by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the Ministry of AYUSH, also secured first place and ₹1,00,000 at IIT Tirupati.
Both teams credited their success to the mentorship provided by Prof. Vaishali Ingale and Prof. Kuldeep Hule. AIT's leadership, including Maj Gen KK Chakrabarti (Chairman), Brig Abhay A Bhat (Director), and Dr. B.P.
