Pune: Traffic congestion on Solapur Road has been significantly reduced, thanks to joint efforts by the Pune Traffic Police and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Measures implemented between Swargate and Hadapsar have increased traffic flow and alleviated congestion, and authorities now plan to replicate these improvements on 15 major city roads.
Speaking at a press conference, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil and PMC’s Chief Engineer (Road Department) Aniruddha Pawaskar explained the actions taken to improve Solapur Road. "Key improvements at Ramtekdi Bridge, Ravidarshan Chowk, and Fatimanagar Chowk have increased traffic speed and reduced congestion," said Pawaskar.
Measures Taken on Solapur Road
Removal of Dividers: Dividers between Vaidhuwadi and Ramtekdi Chowk were removed to widen the road.
Relocation of Bus Stops: Roadside bus stops were moved from the middle of the road.
Pothole Repairs: All potholes along the stretch were filled.
Dedicated Lanes: A separate lane was created near Bhairobanala Chowk by widening the road at the turn ahead of the checkpoint.
Alternative Routes: Certain turns, such as those at Fatimanagar Chowk, were closed, and alternative routes were provided.
Other improvements were implemented at Golibar Maidan on Shankar Sheth Road, Ramtekdi Bridge, Vaidhuwadi Chowk, Hadapsar Gaon Chowk, Gadi Tal Chowk, Ravidarshan Chowk, and Laxmi Colony Chowk.

Pashan
Baner
Karve Road
Paud Road
Satara Road
Sinhagad Road

These efforts aim to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow across Pune. Planned measures include decongesting junctions, removing footpath encroachments, upgrading dividers, and designating parking spaces.
