Special Task Force to Protect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Forts, Encroachments to Be Removed

Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the formation of a special task force to protect and preserve the forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As part of this initiative, the state government has decided to remove all encroachments on these historical sites.

Fadnavis made this announcement while addressing a gathering of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj followers at Shivneri Fort on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. The event was organized by the Maratha Seva Sangh and was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, MLA Sharad Sonawane, and a large number of supporters.

Maharashtra’s Forts to be Considered for UNESCO Heritage Status

During his speech, CM Fadnavis also revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated twelve forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for UNESCO’s World Heritage Site status. These forts will be presented at the UNESCO General Assembly in Paris next week. This move is expected to bring global recognition and aid in the conservation of Maharashtra’s historical sites.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar emphasized the significance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s forts, calling them the true wealth of Maharashtra. He assured that the state government will provide the necessary funds to ensure their preservation and restoration.

Echoing similar sentiments, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde declared that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth is a moment more auspicious than any holy occasion for his followers. He added that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ignited the spirit of Marathi pride and self-respect, and the Mahayuti government is committed to realizing his vision of Surajya (good governance). Shinde also assured that there will be no shortage of funds for the development of Shivneri Fort.
