
Pune: A severe accident took place late at night on the Dalvinagar railway flyover in Chinchwad when a speeding car collided with three oncoming motorcycles. Six people sustained injuries, with one in critical condition. In a shocking turn of events, one of the motorcycles was thrown off the flyover due to the sheer impact of the collision.
The accident occurred when Someshwar Shridhar Kale was riding towards Khandoba Mal Chowk on his two-wheeler. A high-speed car crashed into his bike, severely injuring him and his friend, Akshay Suresh Bate. The reckless driver, instead of stopping, continued forward and hit the motorcycles of Rajendra Varade, Shubhada Varade, Chaitanya Puranik, and Padmaja Puranik, leaving them injured as well.
Due to the intensity of the collision, one of the motorcyclists lost balance, and their bike fell off the flyover. Miraculously, despite the severity of the accident, no fatalities were reported. All injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
Following the accident, a large crowd gathered at the scene, with citizens quickly alerting the police and assisting the injured. Samarth Kulkarni, the car driver, was detained by the police at the accident site. Due to the rush of onlookers, traffic congestion developed in the area, but authorities promptly controlled the situation and cleared the road.
Initial reports suggest that Samarth Kulkarni may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. A case has been registered against him, and he has been taken to the hospital for medical examination. Someshwar Kale has lodged a formal complaint at Nigdi Police Station, and police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
