Pune: The appointment of deans at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), which has been on hold for several years, is set to resume soon with the implementation of SEBC reservation policy.
The university will issue a new advertisement for the vacant dean positions, ensuring that candidates from Open, SC, OBC, and NT categories are considered for these roles.
This development has sparked interest regarding which candidates from the various categories will be appointed to the dean positions across different faculties. The recruitment process for 111 professor positions is also expected to restart soon.
Previously, SPPU had published advertisements for dean positions without applying the reservation policy, leading to delays. Now, with the reservation policy in place, the university will reissue the advertisement, inviting new applicants and those who had previously applied to participate in the interview process.
The university has already initiated the necessary document verification through its reserved category cell and has begun corresponding with the ministry to move forward with the appointments.
Other universities, including Mumbai University, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, and Solapur University, have already implemented similar reservation policies in their dean recruitment processes.
