Pune: Over the past few days, the server of the registration department has been experiencing major slowdowns, severely affecting document registrations and causing inconvenience to citizens. People visiting registration offices are forced to stand in long queues, often waiting for hours or even days to complete transactions that should ideally take just 40 minutes.

Server Malfunctions Extend Processing Time

Despite paying hefty stamp duties and registration fees, the server fails to process challans promptly, causing delays of up to two days for some transactions. Frustrated citizens have raised concerns over the inefficiency of the system.

"Even after making payments, the system takes excessive time to accept them, leading to unnecessary delays and wasted time. It is unfortunate that people are paying fees yet facing difficulties in completing their registrations," said a concerned citizen.

Scanning Services Halted, Causing Further Delays

The document scanning process has also been affected, further extending the waiting time. The registration receipts mention a maximum processing time of 40 minutes, but in reality, the process is taking hours or even days due to the sluggish system. The slow server is also affecting online registrations, with more than 300 rental agreements being processed daily at each office, adding to the system’s burden.

Fear of Stamp Duty Increase Causes Rush at Offices

Since mid-March, rumors of a possible increase in stamp duty have led to a surge in registrations, with people rushing to complete their transactions before any hikes. However, the slow server has left many struggling to complete their work, even after paying crores in stamp duty.

Ravindra Binwade, Inspector General of Registration, stated: "We are actively monitoring the situation. No major disruptions have been reported in any registration office so far. Our technical team is working on the problem, and we are committed to ensuring minimal inconvenience for citizens."
