Videos from Monday's 'Sansad Chalo' protest in Delhi continued to circulate on social media, with several clips purportedly showing police action against protesters going viral across platforms.

The footage has prompted questions over the handling of the demonstration by the Delhi Police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF), even as authorities have yet to respond to the allegations made in the videos.

The protest, organised by members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), saw heavy security deployment around Jantar Mantar and roads leading to Parliament after Delhi Police denied permission for the march and imposed prohibitory restrictions in the area.

As protesters attempted to move towards Parliament, clashes broke out, with multiple videos emerging from the protest site claiming that several demonstrators were injured during the police action.

Many of the videos appear to show Delhi Police personnel and RAF officers using batons to disperse protesters.

Among the most widely shared videos was one posted by YouTuber Ramit Verma, better known for his YouTube channel Official PeeingHuman. He is seen holding a towel to stop bleeding of his head.

Another video, shared by Abhinav Pandey, founder of digital news platform NewsPinch, appears to show police personnel striking protesters with batons during the clashes at Jantar Mantar.

Another widely circulated clip appears to show a tear gas shell being fired towards protesters sitting on the road of Central Delhi.

Separately, journalist Vipul of Lutyens Delhi shared footage that appears to show police personnel using batons on protesters near the Parliament complex.

Delhi-based journalist Kuldeep Singh also shared footage purportedly showing tear gas being used near the Press Club of India on a road leading towards Parliament.

The videos have fuelled widespread debate online, with opposition leaders, journalists, activists and social media users questioning the use of force during the protest and demanding an explanation from the authorities.

At the time of publication, Delhi Police had not issued a detailed response addressing the individual videos or the allegations circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, Delhi High Court says, “Don’t drag Court into all this. It will come up tomorrow,” in response to the PIL sought for urgent hearing on the alleged use of excessive force by Delhi Police and RAF personnel during the CJP protest on July 20.
