Wagholi: Five Arrested for Attempted Murder After Beating Man with Wooden Sticks

The victim, Akash Balu Waykar, suffered serious injuries in the attack. A complaint regarding the incident was lodged at Wagholi Police Station by Chirantan Satish Waghmare.

Pune: A violent incident of assault due to personal enmity was reported in the Wagholi area on Nagar Road, where a young man was brutally beaten with wooden sticks. Pune police have arrested five suspects for attempted murder, while a case has also been registered against their unidentified accomplices.

The victim, Akash Balu Waykar, suffered serious injuries in the attack. A complaint regarding the incident was lodged at Wagholi Police Station by Chirantan Satish Waghmare, a 25-year-old resident of Khandve Nagar, Lohegaon.

According to police officials, Waykar and Waghmare had previous disputes with the accused. On the night of February 5, at approximately 8:30 PM, both victims were passing through the Wagholi area when they were confronted by the assailants.

The accused first verbally abused them before launching a physical assault. Waykar attempted to flee the scene, but the attackers chased him down and struck him repeatedly with wooden sticks, leaving him critically injured.

Following the incident, Pune police launched an investigation and arrested five suspects:

  • Nagesh Bilnar (20) – Resident of Thite Vasti, Kharadi

  • Mangesh Ambore (23)

  • Sachin Avasarmal (23)

  • Abhishek Gaikwad (23)

  • Rajkumar Gaikwad (18)

A case has also been filed against other unidentified accomplices involved in the crime. Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad is leading the investigation.
