Pune: Two 13-year-old schoolgirls, who left their homes in Wagholi and skipped school after being asked to do household chores, were found within an hour by the Chandan Nagar Police and reunited with their families.
The two girls, who were classmates, left their homes on Tuesday (March 19) morning, supposedly for school. However, instead of attending classes, they went elsewhere. When the school authorities noticed their absence, they alerted the parents, who began searching for them. Unable to locate them, the worried parents filed a complaint at the Chandan Nagar Police Station.
Upon receiving the report, Senior Inspector Seema Dhakne formed a special search team. The police soon discovered that one of the girls had a mobile phone, which helped track their location. Using CCTV footage and mobile tracking, they found that the girls were traveling around Pune in an auto-rickshaw.
Following the trail, police located them in Kasba Peth and safely brought them back to their families. The girls were found carrying ₹14000 in cash. For their assistance in locating the girls, auto-rickshaw drivers Santosh Lokhande and Krishna Nagpure were felicitated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane.
The police team responsible for successfully finding the girls included Sub-Inspector Kiran More and Constables Vijay Tikekar, Ramchandra Gurav, Vishwanath Gone, Nanasaheb Pature, Amol Kolekar, Bharat Ukirde, Shivaji Dhande, Manoj Bhandari, and Atul Adak.
