Amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Amazon said Monday that its Amazon Web Services (AWS) region in Bahrain has been disrupted. A company spokesperson attributed the outage to drone activity in the area, according to a Reuters report.
"As this situation evolves and, as we have advised before, we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue to migrate to other locations," Amazon said in a statement Monday night.
Amazon announced that it is assisting customers in moving to different AWS regions during its recovery process. It did not disclose further information regarding the severity of the damage or the expected duration of the disruption.
Amazon's cloud computing division, AWS, is essential for the functioning of numerous popular websites and government activities. It also serves as the primary source of the company's profits.
This incident is the second time the AWS Bahrain region has been hit by drone‑related disruption since the U.S.‑Israel‑Iran war began. Earlier this month, AWS said facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates experienced power outages and was working to restore services.
