Iran on Saturday dismissed US President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Tehran’s infrastructure if a peace deal is not reached within 48 hours, calling the ultimatum “a helpless, nervous, unbalanced and stupid action.”
General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, representing Iran’s "Khatam al-Anbiya" Central Headquarters, echoed Trump’s aggressive language, warning that “the gates of hell will open for you.” He added that any US or Israeli strike would be met with “devastating and continuous” attacks on their military assets and infrastructure, according to Fars News Agency.
An Iranian security official said Tehran is following its war plans and warned of “a big surprise” for the US and Israel. He dismissed Trump’s threats as “laughable” and a sign of failure in American military operations, including the recent downing of US warplanes. “We have learned how to wear down the enemy in asymmetric warfare,” he said.
This latest ultimatum follows Trump’s earlier threats in March to strike Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened. He briefly postponed attacks after “productive conversations” with Tehran. The Strait remains open for ships carrying essential and humanitarian goods, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East as the conflict enters its sixth week. More than 3,500 have died in Iran, over 1,300 in Israel, and dozens in neighboring countries including Iraq, UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait.
Recent developments include Iran shooting down an F-15 and an A-10 US aircraft. One US crew member was rescued by special forces, while another remains missing. Meanwhile, strikes near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant forced the evacuation of 198 workers. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that continued attacks could cause radioactive fallout affecting GCC capitals.
