Since US President Donald Trump's statement of testing positive for the novel coronavirus, a previously little-known White House physician is now an integral source of information on Trump’s health condition.

Meet Sean Conley, a Navy commander who has been President’s physician from 2018. It was a message from Sean Conley that confirmed Donald Trump’s tweet that he and the first lady Melania tested positive for COVID-19.

Sean Conley is an osteopathic physician and Navy officer who became the official physician to the US President in May 2018 who succeeded Rear Adm Ronny Jackson who was designated for Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Sean is head of the White House Medical Unit which has staff of 22. The President’s doctor usually comes from a branch of the armed forces.

Sean Conley, hails from Pennsylvania, completed his education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006.

In 2013, Sean finished the emergency medicine residency program at Naval Medical Centre Portsmouth and later served as an emergency physician in Afghanistan. In 2014, his unit was bestowed a recommendation for saving the lives of several Romanian soldiers who were hurt in a IED blast.

Apart from this, Conley's LinkedIn page lists him serving many roles at the Naval Medical Centre in Portsmouth, counting as a senior medical officer in the emergency medicine department.

Sean Conley gained attention in May after revealing that Donald Trump had started taking hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, while under his care. Many specialists have questioned drug’s efficiency in treating, preventing or curing coronavirus despite claims from US President. The Food and Drug Administration cautioned in April that it should be used only in clinical trials or in hospitals.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump thanked doctors and nurses for the treatment. He wrote on Twitter: “Doctors, Nurses and ALL at the GREAT Walter Reed Medical Center, and others from likewise incredible institutions who have joined them, are AMAZING!!!Tremendous progress has been made over the last 6 months in fighting this PLAGUE. With their help, I am feeling well!
