Zarine Khan, wife of actor Sanjay Khan, passed away at the age of 81 on November 7 due to age-related health issues. The funeral ceremony, held at the Juhu Crematorium, was attended by close family and friends. In a video captured by paparazzi, her son Zayed Khan is seen holding back tears as he performed the final rites for his mother. Numerous Bollywood celebrities, such as Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, and Bobby Deol, attended her home to offer their condolences.
Her final rites were conducted by her son, Zayed Khan, in accordance with Hindu customs. Before marrying Sanjay Khan, Zarine was a practicing Hindu and her maiden surname was Katrak. Honoring her personal wishes and family heritage, the ceremony followed traditional Hindu rituals. In footage from the event, Zayed is seen visibly emotional, with tears in his eyes, as he carries out the rites.
Reports indicate that Zarine had been experiencing age-related health problems for some time. According to media sources, she passed away peacefully at her residence in Mumbai on Friday morning. She is survived by her husband, veteran actor Sanjay Khan, and their children Zayed Khan, Sussanne Khan, Farah Ali Khan, and Simone Arora.
At Sanjay Khan’s residence, several Bollywood personalities, including Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Jaya Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Shabana Azmi, gathered to offer their condolences. Hrithik Roshan, former husband of Sussanne Khan, was also present to support her during the difficult time. Bobby Deol appeared particularly emotional, struggling to hold back tears as he arrived.
Zarine Khan began her career as a model and went on to act in the 1963 Hindi film Tere Ghar Ke Samne alongside Dev Anand. She later carved a niche for herself as a prominent interior designer and businesswoman. Zarine was married to veteran actor Sanjay Khan, whom she met in the 1960s; the couple tied the knot in 1966. Following her marriage, she stepped away from acting to focus on her family and design ventures.
